The Stupidly-Simple (But Brutal) Startup Truths No One Tells You

NB This is a terrific article with 28 Start up truths, if you find the first 5 of value click on the link to read the article.

#1 — Your “million dollars” idea ain’t worth a dime if you can’t execute it flawlessly. Founders often get lost in their own delusions, thinking their idea is the next big thing without checking if anyone actually wants it. Wake up and smell the harsh reality!

#2 — You can build the most mind-blowing product known to humankind, but if customers find it useless, you’ve wasted your time. Stop living in your basement and start listening to what people really need.

#3 — Expecting customers to magically appear at your door is like hoping a unicorn will deliver you a pot of gold. Marketing and sales are just as crucial as developing the darn product itself. Put down the coding keyboard and learn to sell, rookie!

#4 — Get ready to become best friends with poverty and insomnia for the inevitable future. The “starving startup founder” cliche is painfully real. You need to work 80+ hours a week on a tight budget.

#5 — Investors won’t throw money at you just because you have a “brilliant” idea. They want to see profits, a real market, and little to no competition. Basically, you need to have your ducks in a row to even get a meeting.

TIP: Much or all of the material covered in the 28 truths is incorporated in various Modules in the Practitioner Guide.
